OREANDA-NEWS. February 06, 2012. The Federal Antimonopoly Service took part in the I National Congress of Private Medical Organizations on development of private medicine as an integral element of the system of health care, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

On behalf of the Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, Igor Artemyev, Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Kashevarov read a welcoming letter to the Congress participants from 45 constituent territories of the Russian Federation.

According to FAS Russia, significant number of problems associated with national health care is due to absence of fully-fledged competition in the sector. In particular, prohibitions of access of private medical organizations to providing certain types of medical assistance, discrimination of private medical organizations in course of distributing state and municipal resources, provision of paid medical services by state and municipal medical organizations using property aimed at providing free-of-charge services. This results in price damping, discrimination of private medical organizations in course of licensing control, as well as in restricting activities of private educational organizations that provide professional retraining and advance qualification for medical officers.

FAS believes that the I National Congress of Private Medical Organizations is organize right in time when it is important for economic entities in private medicine to self-organize in order to improve the quality of medical services for the population.
