OREANDA-NEWS. February 07, 2012. TNK-BP presented the results of its long-term program for conserving wetlands in the territory of Kamennoe license areas and discussed the plans for further cooperation with environmental organizations in an extended meeting of the regional Khanty-Manssiyskiy Branch of the Russian Bird Protection Union, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

TNK-BP is implementing a package of measures to ensure environmental safety in the unique region of Lower Dvuobye. The company is working to develop its regional field in strict compliance with the requirements of the Ramsar Convention taking guidance from the international best practices of environmental protection and recommendations of environmental organizations.

The findings of Lower Dvuobye wetland surveys made by the Russian Bird Protection Union confirmed that the regional environmental balance conservation program is effective.

‘We made sure today that the business is open for a dialogue and engagement. It is very important for us to understand how oil companies carry out their operations and what activities they perform. If we are certain that their actions are competent and their territory development approach is civilized but there are still adverse changes, such a dialogue will permit us to take further steps, find the cause and make proper decisions to conserve these wetlands of international importance’, said Olga Strelnikova, Chairperson, Regional Khanty-Manssiyskiy Branch of the Russian Bird Protection Union.
