OREANDA-NEWS. February 7, 2012. SCM joined state officials, other businesses and big consultancies to attend Second Ukraine Competition Forum organized with support of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU).

The forum discussed how to apply laws to protect economic competition, how antimonopoly agencies and sectoral regulators should cooperate to promote competition, how to improve the mechanisms to control economic concentrations and other important issues.

The Forum also became a platform to debate on the development of principles and methods to encourage fair competition. Chairman of AMCU Vasyl Tsushko, International Relations Specialist of the European Commission Sam Peters, leaders of antimonopoly authorities in Russia, Kazakhstan and Bulgaria, international consultancies and Ukrainian businesses took part in the sessions. Roman Bugaiov, Director of Corporate Rights and Foreign Asset Management, represented SCM at the event.

"Ukrainian laws protecting economic competition must comply with EU standards," said Mr Bugaiov. "The European competition rules seek firstly to protect consumer interests, which benefits the entire national economy in the long run."
