OREANDA-NEWS. February 13, 2012. Ukraine is looking for alternative sources of energy supplies and has almost reached an agreement with third countries on their delivery. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said this, speaking to students at the University of Latvia.

"We are working on alternative energy sources and hold negotiates and practically agreed to diversify the supply of oil and gas. If the prices for Russian gas and oil are as now, we will have to cut the purchase of strategically important products for us in our Russian partners" - Mykola Azarov said.

Thus he stressed that at such high prices for energy, Ukraine will have to seek other suppliers. "We talk to our Russian partners honestly that at such high gas prices we are forced to seek another vendor". He noted that Ukraine continues talks with Russia on the review of the one-sided gas contracts under which Ukraine receives gas for the highest price in Europe.
