OREANDA-NEWS.  February 13, 2012.  The volume of cargo handled by JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port ("Port Vanino") in January increased by 2% year-on-year, to 472,400 tons, the stevedore company’s news release said.

The stevedore handled 178,400 tons of outbound cargo, 127,800 tons of inbound goods (incl. 120,900 t of alumina) and 19,900 tons of coastal trade. In January, Port Vanino exported 48,800 tons of coal, 22,200 tons of non-ferrous metals, 104,400 tons of timber (95,500 tons of round wood, 7,100 tons of lumber and 1,800 tons of particleboard). 

The Vanino-Kholmsk ferry traffic volume was 146,300 tons. In January, the stevedore handled 106 ships (incl. 64 ferries) and 5,400 rail cars. Container traffic was 237 TEUs.

JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino) is a largest stevedore of the port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Krai). The port is a gateway for trade flows between Russia and Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of Asia Pacific Region. Port Vanino also handles imports shipped to the northern regions of Russia. The stevedore operates the waterfront of about 2.5-km with three specialized cargo handling facilities. In 2010, Port Vanino handled 5.9 mln tons of different cargoes, a 1.2-percent gain year-over-year.
