OREANDA-NEWS. February 15, 2012. Under the chairmanship of the Russian Federation over “Asia – Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in 2012, APEC working bodies shall be holding meetings on 30th January – 19th February, in Moscow. Final events will take place on 18-19 February - the First Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM1), reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) is involved in the work of Competition Policy and Law Group (CPLG).

On 12-13 February, the Group plans to discuss some pressing issues in the field of competition law and enforcement, exchange experience and approve priority areas of its work in view of the current situation in the global economy and importance of developing competition policy for improving the state of the markets in the APEC economies and in the region in general.

Invited speakers include representatives of competition authorities and experts in competition law from the APEC member-states. FAS Russia is going to present a report on “the third antimonopoly package” of changes to the competition law at a session on development of competition policy in law in APEC economies.

Other items of the Group agenda include summing up the projects carried out by the Forum and discussing the project findings. FAS Russia shall organize a “Round Table” at a Group session to discuss preliminary findings of the project “Survey on Information Exchange on Competition in APEC Region: Phase I”. The purpose of the Project is to study possibilities of competition authorities of APEC countries to exchange various types of information, in particular, classified information.
