OREANDA-NEWS.  February 15, 2012. NTT DATA CORPORATION made a contract for a XBRL-based financial reporting project by China Mobile Limited through a joint venture between NTT DATA (CHINA) Co., Ltd and DHC Software Co. Ltd.

China Mobile is China's largest mobile company with 164,000 employees, more than 580 million customers, and a nearly 70% share of the Chinese mobile market at the end of 2010. The general purpose taxonomy of Chinese accounting standards was released in October 2010, and since then major Chinese companies have started implementation of XBRL for financial reporting. NTT DATA successfully made a contract for China Mobile's reporting project by cooperating with DHC Software, which has been serving as a major IT vendor for China Mobile.
Background

XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is a computer language that was developed on XML to improve financial data transfer. It is used in more than 50 countries and regions around the world.

NTT DATA has been deeply involved in the development of XBRL in Japan. Since 2008, it has supplied a Zaimon® financial data distribution gateway service that enables efficient loan assessment by linking e-Tax data and financial institutions. NTT DATA has also supplied technical support to UFIDA Software Company, which is China's largest ERP software package vendor, in order to realize a XBRL-based financial data generation function in its package.

China has been proceeding with the standardization of financial reports for the last couple of years, and major companies have become more interested in XBRL implementation. To meet such technical requirements, NTT DATA has offered various forms of support to the Chinese XBRL community and believes that these efforts resulted in its successful bid for this China Mobile project. NTT DATA expects the project will become the first step toward enhanced XBRL dissemination and contribute to the further efficiency of data transformation in Chinese business society.

XBRL and NTT DATA

NTT DATA has supplied UFIDA with a XBRL component that enables its ERP package to generate XBRL-based financial data. Making use of this experience, NTT DATA has developed a XBRL function that is applicable to wider requirements from individual corporation's accounting systems. This China Mobile project marks the first case of individual use of XBRL implementation by NTT DATA.

In China, standardization of accounting systems is expected to lead to increasing need for the XBRL function in corporate IT systems. NTT DATA considers it important to meet market requirements in terms of both ERP packages and individual system implementation, and to try to contribute to the smooth dissemination of XBRL in China by making use of its accumulated experience and technology in XBRL implementation.
