OREANDA-NEWS.  February 16, 2012. Furukawa Industrial S.A. Produtos Eletricos(FISA), one of the biggest manufacturers of infrastructure solutions for communication networks, announced that its business grew 55% last year at a national level and that investments in the area will continue.

“The growth in Argentina was mainly due to higher broadband usage, which implies more sales within our product portfolio: optical fiber cables, structured cabling, and triple play (FTTH) systems installation”, says Foad Shaikhzadeh, President of Furukawa(FISA).

Additionally, this year, the company will invest USD 20 million across the Mercosur region, due to an increment on technological demand for broadband and also special projects such as the Brazil World Cup 2014 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The company has a manufacturing plant in Berazategui, province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, from which optical fiber cables are exported to Chile and Bolivia, within the region. Moreover, Furukawa has a market share of 20% in Argentina, 25% in Chile and 46% in Brazil.
