OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2012. In 2011, the Ukrainian hauliers have increased volumes of freight traffic via Romania by 21%. Thus, in that state last year it has been registered about 20 thousand 300 freight road vehicles of the Ukrainian carriers. This was announced during a meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Romanian Commission in sphere of the international road transport, held in Bucharest.

As for transportations of passengers by the Ukrainian carriers via the Romanian territory, they have become by 22% more in comparison with the year 2010 - in 2011, Romania has registered 1,225 vehicles.

As a whole, according to the Romanian side, the Ukrainian carriers made 54% of transit transportations of the total haulages through Romania.

Given the growth in volumes of transportations, the Ukrainian side proposes to revise also quota permits for automobile transportations between Romania and Ukraine, which currently remains unchanged since 2007. Therefore, Ukraine has requested to increase up to 23 thousand permits the valid in bilateral and transit traffic, and up to 2 thousand permits "to/from third countries." And in the further, the Ukrainian side strives to negotiate with the Romanian side of liberalizing (non-permit system) road passenger and freight traffic.
