OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2012. For today the agrarian complex is a key to economic prosperity of the state. The development of the industry should be inseparably connected with the promotion and support of rural areas. For this propose the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food represents the rural development strategy. This was stressed by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk within a working visit to Zhytomyr region.

"Today about 32% of Ukraine's population or about 14.5 million people live in rural area. Powerful agricultural segment is our feature and priority over other countries where the percentage of farmers is much smaller. Therefore the main task of the state is active development and rural development, as an important element of social and economic growth. Any reform of the agricultural sector should not be conducted separately from rural development" - said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk at a joint meeting of representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food with the leadership of Zhytomyr region.

State the concept of rural development includes a range of programs to support and promote agricultural production and to improve living conditions in villages. This is on the opinion of the Minister, will revive the countryside, including Zhytomyr region.

"Our task is to attract 3.5 million hectares of agricultural lands that are in private farms to the system of the country food security. Therefore, stimulation of individual farmers and farm enterprises, improve living conditions in rural areas and the effective completion of the land reform will preserve and revive the Ukrainian village as a powerful segment of the economy and the unique feature of our country" - said PM.
