OREANDA-NEWS. February 22, 2012. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has supported the initiative of the Director General of the National Parliamentary Library Tamara Vylehzhanina on the introduction of mobile libraries which will deliver books to landlocked and sparsely populated areas.

He started this during the meeting with representatives of domestic publishing brunch and book dissemination.

"Let’s develop a program of mobile libraries, the so-called librarybus. This pilot project can be implemented in remote and sparsely populated areas, for example, in Zakarpatya and Ivano-Frankivsk regions" - the Prime Minister stated.

In turn, Mrs. Vylehzhanina emphasized that a third of rural areas generally do not have libraries, so this program is desperately needed. In addition, the director of the National Parliamentary Library stressed the need for active replenishment of library collections, because most readers prefer the new edition.

The Prime Minister agreed with this: "The reader will not go to the library if there are no new books. If there are new books then some much easier to go to the library and take a new book rather than go to the store to buy it".

According to the Head of the Government, updating the library collections will initiate so-called project "cheap libraries" design by him. Books of this series will be issued in large circulations and will have a small cost.
