OREANDA-NEWS. February 24, 2012. Fujitsu today confirmed that it has been selected to deliver services within all four lots on the government’s Ј60 million G-Cloud framework. These lots, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and Specialist Cloud Services will be delivered to various government bodies through the ground-breaking CloudStore.

The CloudStore is an online marketplace where cloud computing suppliers are listed and rated for future procurement by public sector departments. This dynamic app store, and the G-Cloud framework, are designed to drive down costs by allowing public sector bodies to rent services from 257 suppliers, when needed, rather than sign up to lengthy contracts. The CloudStore and framework will run for an initial period of six months to assess the demand for the services from government bodies and to test supplier capabilities.

With a long history in public sector IT service delivery, Fujitsu is well positioned to become part of the new CloudStore. The company will draw on its experience of securely delivering public, private and hybrid cloud projects to produce the desired outcomes and efficiencies required by government bodies.

Nigel Kirby-Green, executive director, public sector at Fujitsu UK & Ireland, commented, “Being involved in the G-Cloud is a testament to the excellent work that Fujitsu has delivered in the public sector. As a long established government service provider, we understand the pressures these organisations face when it comes to cutting costs and ensure that we deliver cost-effective solutions.

“At Fujitsu we know we can go beyond cost savings, and provide agility to government organisations through our vast range of innovative secure cloud services, which encompass private, public and hybrid offerings. We can also add value to the framework through partnerships with various SMEs and other cloud service providers, such as Salesforce.com – providing increased choice and flexibility."
