OREANDA-NEWS. February 27, 2012. Belarus will have to pay almost USD 6 billion to service the government’s foreign debt liabilities in 2013-2014, Finance Minister Andrei Kharkovets told a board meeting on Wednesday.

Over the last three years Belarus’ external debt has grown by 220% to USD 11.8 billion as of 1 January 2012. The burden of debt settlement will reach its peak in 2013-2014 when Belarus will have to pay back nearly USD 6 billion, the minister said.

As reported by the Finance Ministry, Belarus’ state debt stood at Br116.4 trillion (USD 13.9 billion at the NBB rate) as of January 1, 2012. The external debt accounts for 84.6% of the total debt, domestic debt – 15.4%.
