OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2012. Romania is among the top economic partners of Moldova, ranking second in terms of exports after Russia, and third in terms of imports after Russia and Ukraine, according to the National Statistics Bureau.

Moldova's foreign trade with Romania amounted to 950 million dollars, going up by 50 per cent in 2011 against 2010. On the same period, the exports of local goods to Romania were estimated at 376.4 million dollars or up by 52.8 per cent against 2010. Imports from Romania reached 574.2 million dollars, hiking by 48.5 per cent against 2010. The statistics do not cover the districts from the left bank of the Dniester.

According to the press bureau of the Romanian embassy in Chisinau, Romania's total trade with Moldova was estimated at 1.13 billion dollars in 2011, of which 786.3 million dollars in exports to Moldova, up by 28.5 per cent, and 347.7 million dollars in imports from Moldova, up by 86 per cent.

Moldova is among Romania's top trade partners outside the European Union, ranking sixth in terms of exports after such states as Turkey Russia, Ukraine etc.
