OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2012. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power utility, has always been at the forefront of driving various sustainability initiatives in and around its areas of operation. Under its environment conservation drive, the company partnered with Vivekananda Mission School to promote awareness on environment conservation in Haldia.

Tata Power’s Haldia team, in collaboration with Vivekananda Mission School, organised a plantation programme for schoolchildren at Haldia. Under this programme, more than 150 saplings were planted by schoolchildren and Tata Power employees. This initiative was conducted with an aim to help children better understand the need for environment conservation at an early age.

In addition to this drive, Tata Power also organised an education support programme to help the students who come from financially weaker sections of the society.

Speaking about this initiative, Vijayant Ranjan, station manager, Haldia power plant, said, “The main objective of the plantation programme is to sensitise students on environment conservation and enhance leadership qualities to better manage their tomorrow.”

These initiatives were well accepted and a large number of students participated to make this event a resounding success.
