OREANDA-NEWS. March 01, 2012. Cargo throughput at Ilyichevsk Commercial Sea Port (SCPI) in January-February 2012 rose 3 percent year-on-year to 2.38 million tons, the state-owned enterprise said. 

In the reporting period the port handled 954,000 tons of general cargoes, 253,000 tons of liquid bulk and 1,179,000 tons of dry bulk cargo.

In February, cargo shipments from Ilyichevsk terminals rose 13.6% to 1,265,000 tons.

In February, Port of Ilyichevsk saw a 81.5-percent surged in metal exports, a 31.2-percent growth in general cargo volume and a 29-percent gain in liquid bulk cargo. Shipments of cast iron soared by 65.4%, oil meal - by 39.5%. Coal exports increased by 34.6%, handling of vegetable oil rose 40%, of grain – by 7.1%. In the reporting period the port handled 147 ships and 10,326 railcars.

State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk) ranks among Ukraine’s top 4 seaports. The Port of Ilyichevsk encompasses 346 ha, a 6-km-long waterfront with 29 berths. Projected capacity of the port's handling and warehouse facilities is over 30 million tons of cargo a year.
