OREANDA-NEWS. The explosion of the portable vacuum tank at the ORLEN Lietuva Refinery, that occurred on March 3, had a very limited scope and has not affected any of the Refinery operations, reported the press-centre of ORLEN Lietuva.

During an accident which occurred today at the Deep Conversion Complex (KT) two persons died when a portable vacuum tank exploded. The accident occurred during loading of the catalyst into the FCC unit. All relevant institutions, including the State Labor Inspectorate, have been immediately informed about the accident. The causes of the accident are being investigated by a special comission.

Both victimes were employees of Paslaugos Tau, a subsidiary of ORLEN Lietuva. Psyhological assistance and support will be offered to their families.

Starting from March 1, the Refinery is operating at 100 per cent of its planned run rates after completion of the Deep Conversion (KT) maintenance, which was part of the Refinery Turnaround to be commenced in mid-April.
