OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. We discovered a new oil and gas accumulation in the Solimoes Basin, state of Amazonas.

The discovery was made during the drilling of the well known as Leste do Igarape Chibata. Located in the city of Coari, 25 km from the Urucu Oil Province, the well was drilled to the final depth of 3,295 meters.

Tests have indicated a production capacity of 1,400 barrels per day of good quality oil (41? API) and 45,000 cubic meters of natural gas, in the Jurua Formation.

This is the second successful exploration operation in the block, where the Discovery Assessment Plan for the well known as Igarape Chibata has been underway since 2010.

If the economic viability of the findings is confirmed, a new oil and natural gas production cluster will be created in the Solimoes Basin.

We hold 100% of the exploration and production rights in the concession. In the state of Amazonas, we currently produce 53,000 barrels of oil and 11 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, in addition to 1,300 tons/day of LPG.
