OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 0.9% over the first 14 days of February 2012 and 2.8% since early this year, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

The largest increase in retail prices was registered with

bananas (12.3%), condensed milk with sugar (5.1%), potatoes (4.3%), fresh cucumbers (3.2%), boneless beef, beer (2.6%), vodka (2.3%), fresh cabbages, beetroots, fresh tomatoes, tea, tobaccos (1-1.3%), medications (2.5%), cotton fabrics (1.1%), kitchen dishes (0.9%), higher education fees (9.8%), healthcare vacations (3.7%), medical services.

As previously reported, Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 108.7% in 2011, although the initial forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. Belarus’ inflation forecast for 2012 stands at 19-22%.
