OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. The share of loss-making companies in Belarus decreased to 5% (429 entities) of the total number as of January 1, 2011 from 5.1% as of January 1, 2011, an official with the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

Their net loss grew 5.9 times to 6.3 trillion Belarusian rubles (USD 750.9 million at the NBB rate).

The return on sales in January-December 2011 was at 13.2%, up from 7.3% in January-December 2010.

In the manufacturing sector, the share of loss-makers was at 7.4% as of January 1, 2012, down from 9.2% the previous year. The profitability of manufactured commodity sales reached 16.5% from 8.4% the year before.

The share of loss-makers in the construction sector rose to 9.7% in December 2011 from 4.7% the previous year. The return on construction product sales went down to 5.3% as of January 1, 2011 from 7.9% the year before.

In agriculture, the share of loss-making enterprises was at 0.8% as of January 1, 2012, down from 2.2%. Profitability of sold products rose to 13.3% from 0.4%.

The share of loss-makers in the transportation sector stood at 2.3% as of January 1, 2012, up from 2.6% as of January 1, 2011. The profitability rate in that real economy sector dropped to 11.4% from 11.6% in January-December 2010.
