OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. “EUROCEMENT group” Holding acted as the general partner of “GREEK WEEK”, the festival of Greek cinema.

“EUROCEMENT group” Holding is actively involved in the creation of new cultural values, traditions and initiatives. The name of the major shareholder of the holding and Chairman of the Board of Directors of “EUROCEMENT group”, JSC and, at the same time, cultural philanthropist is Filaret Ilyich Galchev. His name is associated with the cultural prosperity of Greece, its promotion in Russia, as well as the Greek Cinema project.

The main features of the new Greek cinema are inventiveness, visual minimalism and interest in social issues, coupled with versatility. Exactly this has been brought to the international festivals by Athena Tsangari and Giorgos Lanthimos, the creators of the Haos Films studio. They were also accompanied by their peers Alexander Vulgaris, Argyris Papadimitropoulos, Jan Vogel and others – their films have already been included in the “new wave of Greek cinema” movement.

The program of “Greek Week”, the first festival of Greek cinema in Moscow presents five new works by members of this movement. The film director Argyris Papadimitropoulos (“Wasted Youth”) and actress Aggeliki Papoulia (“Alps”) will present their films to spectators. The “35 mm” movie theater is the most popular art venue for large and small film festivals in Moscow. In addition to numerous festivals, “35mm” is a unique place where you can watch the best movies in their original language. Unlike conventional movie theaters, “35mm” aims to show viewers only the best uncensored versions of modern films.

The GreekCulturalCenter, Look at me, “BigCity” magazine and “TimeOut” acted as media partners of the festival.

Invited guests are the cultural attache and representatives of Press and Cultural departments of embassies, representatives of the cultural centers of the United Kingdom, France, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal, representatives of commercial companies, honorary guests – actors Anton Dolin, Andrei Plakhov, Sergei Loban, Maria Potapova, Petr Shepotinnik and others.
