OREANDA-NEWS. March 06, 2012. The Russia-Bangladesh consultations on the entire array of issues related to implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Concerning Cooperation in Construction of the Nuclear Power Plant were held in Moscow on February 27-29.

In the framework of the consultations February 27 Rostechnadzor and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh signed the Agreement Concerning the Cooperation in the Field of Regulation of Nuclear and Radiation Safety at the Peaceful Use of Atomic Energy.

On the same day the Bangladeshi delegation visited the National Research Nuclear University MEPHI where the delegation and Rector Mikhail Strikhanov, as well as representatives of ROSATOM, discussed plans of training Bangladeshi students in NRNU MEPHI in Moscow.

On the 28th of February, Deputy Director Generals of ROSATOM Nikolai Spasskiy and Kirill Komarov had meetings with the delegation of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh led by State Minister of Science and Technology Yeafesh Osman. The meetings were also attended by newly appointed Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bangladesh Alexander Nikolayev and Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Russia Saiful Hok. The meetings discussed issues of development of a legal basis in the field of nuclear power in the Republic of Bangladesh, prospects of training of students in nuclear-related universities, development of the state regulatory system in the field of peaceful atom development and approaches to financing of the first nuclear construction project in Bangladesh.

On the 29th of February in the Atomstroyexport’s (Principal Contractor for NPP construction in Bangladesh) office bilateral consultations were held with specialists from design and survey organizations from Moscow and St. Petersburg, which discussed technical aspects of engineering surveys on Ruppur site and organization of works to analyze the Bangladeshi energy system.

In the framework of the visit, the Bangladeshi delegation also familiarized with activities of the Nuclear Information Centers of ROSATOM.
