OREANDA-NEWS. March 07, 2012. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power utility, organised an energy conversation drive at Kalinganagar, Orissa. This initiative was undertaken with the objective of creating awareness on energy conservation among the schoolchildren from Classes 8 and 9 of St Mary’s School in Kalinganagar.

More than 120 students gathered at the auditorium of St Mary's School, with an urge to gain knowledge on effective ways of energy conservation. In addition to this, a quiz contest was organised by Tata Power officers to encourage participation and also share and gain knowledge. The students participated with a lot of zeal and displayed great knowledge on the subject, making the competition a very interesting and exciting affair. The winner of the contest was awarded exciting prizes.

Speaking on this initiative, P Thakur, general manager, Orissa projects, said, “We at Tata Power are committed to giving back to the society. We feel proud when we see young children participate for such initiatives and are thoroughly motivated by their teachers and principal. Energy conservation week played a vital role in helping young minds, their families and society at large to gain knowledge and implement energy conservation practices in the area in their daily lives.”
