OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2012. The branch of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company in Sochi insured the participants of the bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track homologation (international certification) in Krasnaya Polyana against accidents. The organizers of the event shall be State Corporation “Olympstroy”, International Luge Federation (FIL), and International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (FIBT).

The contract provided the insurance for sportsmen, coaches, referees, and federations’ representatives participating in the track homologation, total of 135 people. The contract is concluded for the total sum insured of 67.5 mln euro.

The bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track homologation is taking place from March 05 to March 09, 2012. To perform the homologation, the FIL and FIBT representatives will come to Krasnaya Polyana together with the best world sportsmen who will test the track and then appraise it. The international technical committee will inspect the track’s support facilities: refrigeration plants, loudspeaker communications, lighting, TV broadcasting systems.

The bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track with the capacity of 10,000 people goes along the Aibga Ridge slope in Rzhanaya Polyana area in the territory of Alpika Service Ski Resort. The construction of the track started in December 2010. In February 2012, the track cooling and ice generation began, and on February 25 test runs took place. After the homologation the bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track in Krasnaya Polyana will be registered in the international registry of sport facilities. From March 10 to March 25, the first official competitions will take place at the track. Bobsleigh, skeleton and luge competitions will take place here within the XXII Olympic Winter Games 2014.
