OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2012. The specialists of TITAN-2 holding have completed the full complex of construction, assembly, and start-up works for the special solid radioactive waste (SRW) processing building in the radioactive waste (RAW) complex at Leningrad NPP. Now the only test left for the specialists is that for the loaded furnace in the last system of the special building – the burning one.

Let us remind of the fact that the rest of the complex specialized systems, such as the sorting, transporting and pressing ones were tested under control of the representatives from the equipment supplier, Nukem Technologies GmbH in 2009. Previously, the holding specialists performed the full cycle of works related to construction of its buildings, assembly, electric wiring, and start-up works for all the equipment of the complex.

The complex for SRW processing and storage at Leningrad NPP is being constructed by the order of Rosenergoatom Concern, OJSC. TITAN-2 holding is a construction customer. The main purpose of SRW processing and storage complex construction is to ensure the modern level of low and medium-active SRW processing, which will reduce their volume, and will allow more effective usage of the SRW storage facilities. It will also create the barriers necessary at long-term storage of wastes with the possibility to withdraw them from the storage facilities in future and to transport them to the regional final repositories.

On the whole, in 2011, in the course of SRW complex construction at Leningrad NPP, TITAN-2 Holding’s organizations have performed the whole scheduled scope of construction, installation and start-up works for the total amount of 460 mln roubles.
