OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2012. In February of 2012 2,37 million tons of sea - born cargo, i.e. less by 576,0 thousand tons or by 19,5 percent if to compare with the corresponding period of 2011 was handled in Klaipeda Port, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda Port.

603,3 thousand tons of oil were imported via Butinges Terminal in February of the current year.

Handling volumes of oil products in February of 2012 were 6685 thousand tons, the change is – 19,5 percent or less by 161,5 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2011.

The handling turnover of fertilizers in February of 2012 was 580,2thousand tons, i.e. less by 43,1 percent or by 438,9 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2011.

368,2 thousand tons of Ro-Ro cargo,i.e. less by 5,3 percent or by 20,7 thousand tons comparing with thecorresponding period of the previous yearwere handled in February of 2012. Calculating in units 18 133 units of this cargo, i.e. less by -4,3 percent or by 814 units were handled comparing with February of the previous year. Volumes of containerised cargohandling (calculating in TEU) were 30 519 TEU, i.e. more by 21,3 percent or by 5 351 TEU thanduring the corresponding period of 2011. In terms of tonnage the turnover of containerised cargo handlingadvanced as well. Calculating in tons the growth rate was29,4 percent or +81,3 thousand tons comparing with the corresponding period of 2011, in total 358,2 thousand tons were handled

Throughout February of this year 16 273passengers, i.e. more by 0,4 percent, or by 67 passengers than during the corresponding month of 2011 visited Klaipeda Port.

461 vessels, i.e. less by -4,8 percent or by 23 vessels than during the corresponding period of 2011, were registered in the Port of Klaipeda in February of 2012.
