OREANDA-NEWS. March 16, 2012. An ASC system by General Electric will be installed at the GFU-1 gas plant, Shop No.10. It will protect the compressors against surge (unstable operation which is caused by gas pressure and flow fluctuations and may result in emergency shutdowns of a compressor or a whole process).

The automated ASC system 24/7 receives process information from all sorts of gauges, performs its logical and arithmetical processing and storing, constantly regulates process parameters, shuts the compressor down if necessary to prevent an emergency and produces warnings and alarm signals.

The ASC system will make the gas plant operation more stable increasing its potential operation time by 33 days per year and boosting the yield by 10%.

The project requires RUR 32 m of investments. Construction and assembly works are to be finished by July 2012.

FIY: The gas plant processes rich gas and unstable gasoline coming from the catalytic crackers and produces EURO-4 gasoline components.
