OREANDA-NEWS. March 23, 2012. The 146th meeting of State Level Bankers' Committee, Madhya Pradesh was held today at the Zonal Office of Central Bank of India, Bhopal. The meeting was co-chaired by Shri Avani Vaish, IAS, Chief Secretary to Govt. of M.P. and Shri M.V. Tanksale, Chairman & Managing Director and attended, amongst others, by Shri R. Parasuram, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Ajay Nath, Principal Secretary-Finance, Smt. Aruna Sharma, Principal Secretary - Panchayat & Rural Development, Shri Ashok Shah, Commissioner-Institutional Finance, Govt. of M.P. and Shri S. Choudhary, GM & Officer-in-Charge, RBI, Bhopal. Shri B. Mondal, General Manager, Central Bank of India and Convenor, State Level Bankers' Committee, Madhya Pradesh, conducted the meeting and welcomed the dignitaries and other participants.

Addressing the participants, Shri Avani Vaish, Chief Secretary to Govt. of M.P. informed that special attention is being given to Priority Sector and Allied Sector by the State Government. A separate budget for the Agriculture and Allied Sector has been conceived and introduced in the State in this year's State Budget.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri M.V. Tanksale, Chairman & Managing Director, Central Bank of India touched upon the following subjects:

Based on the feedback received by Government of India on a Workshop organized by Central Bank of India for Lead District Managers of Madhya Pradesh, a decision has been taken by the Government to institutionalize the same as Bi-annual meeting of Chairman/CMD of SLBC Convenor Banks with LDMs in all the States. This development underlines the importance Government of India attaches to strengthen the Lead District Manager's office as a strong institution that can make a lot of difference in the developmental activities. Banks with lead bank responsibility were requested to provide adequate infrastructure and manpower to LDM offices to make it as an effective institution at the district level.

100% targets under Annual Credit Plan should be achieved without fail.

A lot of thrust has been given to Agriculture and Allied Sector in the Union Budget. Govt. of India's desire to identify potential in the Agriculture in each area and focus on it for development was underlined.

At least 25% of the targets under different parameters should be earmarked for women beneficiaries for women empowerment.

The House also deliberated on the recently announced Revival Package for Handloom Sector and reviewed the performance under ongoing programmes like Financial Inclusion, Kisan Credit Card Scheme, Credit to SME Sector, PMEGP, implementation of Annual Credit Plan, SHGs and Low C:D
