OREANDA-NEWS. March 27, 2012. Sales and purchases of foreign currencies in foreign exchange offices were USD 264,6 mln., mln. in February in Moldova, 6,1% down as compared with January, 2011.

Purchases of foreign currency against Moldovan Lei on the domestic cash foreign exchange market reduced by 3,3% to USD 224 mln. expressed in equivalent), as compared with the previous month, with sales declining by 17% to USD 47,9 mln. Sales and purchases of Euro were dominant as before.

They amounted to USD 145,4 mln (55% of the total turnover), 5,5% down as compared with the previous month. Purchases of Euro declined by 1,6% to USD 118,1 mln., with sales falling by 19,2% to USD 27,3 mln. Sales and purchases of USD reduced by 1,7% to USD 92,3 mln. (34,9% of the total turnover). Purchases of USD increased 0,8% to USD 76,9 mln., with sales falling 12,5% - to USD 15,4 mln. Sales and purchases of RUB made up USD 24,3 mln. (9,2% of the total turnover) and declined by 20,6% as compared with December.

Purchases of RUB reduced by 21,8% to USD 20,4 mln., with sales declining by 13,3% to USD 3,9 mln. Purchases of RON declined by 22,2% to USD 0,7 mln,, with sales reducing by 30% to USD 0,7 mln. Sales and purchases of UAH reduced by 20% to USD 1,2 mln. Purchases of UAH fell by 14,3% to USD 0,6 mln., with sales decreasing by 25% to 0,6%.
