OREANDA-NEWS. March 27, 2012. At present, OMK is the only Russian that confirmed its readiness to supply large-diameter pipes for the South Stream gas pipeline. A while ago, OMK was granted the Certificate of Conformity with the requirements of DNV standards for this new international project.

The Certificate of Conformity was issued on the basis of tests on a pilot batch of pipes (813 x 39.0 mm SAWL 450SD (equivalent to X65) and 813 x 37.4 mm SAWL 485 SD (equivalent to X70) in accordance with the requirements of specification DNV-OS-F101).

OMK was the first domestic pipe producer to receive, in 2007, the Certificate of Conformity with DNV standards for the production of pipes for subsea pipelines. OMK supplied 480 km of 1,153 x 34-41 mm pipes for the Nord Stream subsea pipeline, which is unique in the world practice.

At present, OMK has Russia’s and one of the world’s most extensive experience in supplying pipes for subsea pipe projects. In addition to Nord Stream, the Company supplied LDP for such projects as the Varandey Oil Terminal in the White Sea area, Baydaratskaya Bay, Sakhalin–Khabarovsk–Vladivostok, and Dzhubga–Lazarevskoye–Sochi. Participate in the Dzhubga–Lazarevskoye–Sochi subsea project largely helped OMK prepare for the South Stream project: both pipelines run along the bottom of the Black Sea in a corrosive hydrogen sulfide environment.
