OREANDA-NEWS. April 02, 2012. Economic crime squads of the Interior Ministry of Belarus have been there to notice emerging criminal trends in dairy and meat production, the Interior Ministry’s Eduard Nikitin told a press-conference on Tuesday.

The chief of the Interior Ministry’s Economic Crime Department is currently busy investigating a few paradoxes in the farming industry. For instance, Belarus’ cow population decreased by 30% in 2011, while gross milk yield shrank by a slight 1.2%. The economic police are curious to know what sort of intensive technologies and fodder the farmers used to boost milk yield per cow, Nikitin said.

Furthermore, Belarus’ meat exports were reported to rise 12.7%, while gross meat output rose 7.8%.

The police are also investigating the reasons that stand behind the decrease in Belarus’ livestock population. For instance, a vet has recently been arrested to writing off cows as diseased. Subsequently, the cows were exported to Russian, while the vet was awarded a bribe, Nikitin informed. End

He also informed about numerous cases of accelerating milk yield, which only existed on paper.
