OREANDA-NEWS. April 02, 2012. Uralkali (LSE:URKA), one of the world’s largest potash producers, has signed a contract with the German joint venture KK-Architects/Happold (the “Contractor”) for the development of a masterplan for the Berezniki-Solikamsk agglomeration. The project will be funded by Uralkali within the framework of the cooperation with regional and local authorities.

As per the technical specifications, the Contractor is expected to prepare an integrated plan for the development of the cities of Berezniki, Solikamsk and Usolye, taking into account the area’s historical and geological characteristics. The masterplan will serve as the basis for defining a multi-faceted development programme for these cities which will include proposed infrastructure solutions, a list of proposed locations for social facilities, proposals for housing construction, and measures aimed at maintaining and improving the surrounding environment. The masterplan is expected to be presented by September 2013 and the cost of its development, its adaptation to Russian legislation and the creation of the relevant city planning documentation will exceed USD 3 million.
