OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2012.  Passenger traffic at the Port of Tallinn in the first quarter of 2012 increased by 5.2% from January-March 2011, to 1.65 million people, Tallinna Sadam company said.

In March, the stevedore company’s terminals handled 616,861 passengers, 411,082 of them, or 68%, were customers of Tallink services. Last year, Tallink provided services for 365,583 people, which accounted for 70% of all passengers at the port. In March Viking Line and Eckerц served 128,063 and 39,612 passengers, respectively. St.Peter Line operating the St. Petersburg - Stockholm - Tallinn - St. Petersburg line served 13,996 passengers, a nearly 50-percent growth month-on-month.

Port of Tallinn ranks third among largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg and Primorsk, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2011, passenger traffic at the Port of Tallinn totaled 443,172 people.
