OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2012. The share of loss-making companies in Belarus decreased to 12.1% (1,022 entities) of the total number as of February 1, 2011 from 13.8% as of February 1, 2011, an official with the National Statistics Committee told.

Their net loss grew 90% to 771.5 billion Belarusian rubles 96.438 million at the NBB rate).

The return on sales in January 2012 was at 12%, up from 7.1% in January 2011.

In the manufacturing sector, the share of loss-makers was at 17.4% as of February 1, 2012, down from 20.2% the previous year. The profitability of manufactured commodity sales reached 12.7% from 7.2% the year before.

The share of loss-makers in the construction sector rose to 15% in January 2011 from 13.8% the previous year. The return on construction product sales went down to 6.6% as of February 1, 2011 from 7.5% the year before.

In agriculture, the share of loss-making enterprises was at 2.2% as of February 1, 2012, down from 4.6%. Profitability of sold products rose to 20.8% from 10.4%.

The share of loss-makers in the transportation sector stood at 20.2% as of February 1, 2012, up from 19.8% as of February 1, 2011. The profitability rate in that real economy sector grew to 13.1% from 6.1% in January 2011.
