OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2012. Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 1.2% over the first 20 days of March 2012 and 4.7% since early this year, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

The largest increase in retail prices was registered with sugar (7.5%), beer (4.5%), salt (2.7%), soft beverages (2.2%), condensed milk with sugar (2.1%), pork (except for boneless meat), first-grade boiled sausages, dumplings, eggs, mayonnaise, biscuits, tea (0.9-1.4%), petrol (5.5%), knitwear garments (1.3%), telecommunication services (14.2%), utility services (4%), healthcare vacations (2.3%).

As previously reported, Belarus saw the consumer price index grow 108.7% in 2011, although the initial forecast for 2011 stood at 7.5%-8.5%. Belarus’ inflation forecast for 2012 stands at 19-22%.
