Belarus’ fixed-capital investments and investments in construction totaled 12.972 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br) in January-February 2012, or USD 1.6 million at the official rate of the central bank, down 13.3% year on year, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

As much as 5.566 trillion rubles was spent on buying machines, equipment, and vehicles in January-February 2012, down 12.3% from the 2011 level.

Investments in construction and assembly operations totaled 6.298 trillion rubles, down 15.5% on the year in January-February 2012.

As much as 729,100 square meters of new homes was commissioned in the period, up 170%.

In January-February 2012, as much as 6.748 trillion rubles worth of contract works was performed, down 22.2% from January 2011.

The figure for state-run enterprises went down 28.7% to 1.026 trillion rubles, private companies – down 20.4% to 5.658 trillion rubles, foreign-owned companies – down 27.1% to 64 billion rubles.
