OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2012. Russia’s EuroChem is supplying Belarus-based Gomel Chemical Plant with some 200,000 tonnes of apatite materials, a source in the Belarusian government told reporters.

EuroChem is a long-time business partner of Gomel Chemical Plant, supplying the Belarusian enterprise with up to 200,000 tonnes of apatite materials – half of the annual volume of raw materials required by the Belarusian company.

As previously reported, EuroChem, Russia’s largest mineral fertilizer producer, has shown an interest in privatizing Belarus-based Gomel Chemical Plant.

“EuroChem has shown a serious interest in privatizing OJSC Gomel Chemical Plant. The issue is now under consideration,” the official said.

EuroChem and Gomel Chemical Plant are now busy discussing the prospects of investment partnership. Gomel Chemical Plant is interested in two types of investments: apatite supplies and new technologies, the official said.

EuroChem is Russia’s largest mineral fertilizer producer and ranks among the top three European and top ten global producers by nutrient capacity.
