OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2012. Ukraine is interested to continue cooperation with the International Monetary Fund as part of stand-by. This was started by Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at a meeting on Wednesday with members of the Supervisory Board of "Yalta European Strategy".

"We have fulfilled all terms of the IMF: we have state budget surplus, low inflation, stable banking system, we pay debt with good faith - almost all of terms of cooperation with the IMF fulfilled except one. They say gas tariffs for the population should correspond to the price of Russian gas", - Mykola Azarov said.

He noted that Ukrainian should not be hostage to gas contract in 2009, signed by the Government of Yulia Tymoshenko, on which Ukraine pays ultra-high gas prices.

"I ask the IMF why our people should pay for this criminal agreement. We have two years negotiating with Russia, and will achieve lower prices. And when we shall achieve a fair price, our people will pay it"- the Prime Minister said.

He recalled that this year Ukraine should return 3.75 billion dollars to the IMF for the loan of 2009 year, of which 600 million have returned. PM stressed that no problems with repayment of debts do not exist, Ukraine behave as absolutely conscientious borrower.
