OREANDA-NEWS. April 17, 2012. The Turkmen-Uzbek Business Forum took place at the Mizan Business Center in Ashgabat. As is known, within the last years the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan have been offered with a new incentive for development and have gained the increasing dynamics of the bilateral partnership. That is vividly proved by the regular top level meetings and negotiations, and the visits of the delegations of the both countries at various levels that directly contribute to enhancing the fruitful relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The representative delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the business forum. The delegation includes the representatives of the state structures and business circles of Uzbekistan, the heads of leading companies and enterprises specialized in mechanical engineering, energy sector, food, light and pharmaceutical industries, agriculture, trade and other sectors.

The representatives of a number of leading ministries, departments and institutions of Turkmenistan as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan represented our country in the forum.

The forum participants underlined that the agreements achieved in line with the outcomes of the top level talks between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov held within the framework of the official visits of the leaders of the two countries to Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan respectively had offered new powerful incentives and content to the intergovernmental cooperation. Within the period new bilateral documents have replenished the contractual and legal basis of the Turkmen-Uzbek relations.

The trading and economic cooperation has gained new content and the trade turnover between the two countries has significantly increased. Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan possess huge potential for increasing the volumes of mutual trade and widening its commodity items, promoting the investment activity, implementing joint projects in various spheres, in particular the entrepreneurial activity.

Moreover, among the prospect vectors for the mutually beneficial partnership, the forum participants defined cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, as well as transport and communications sphere.

Discussion of the further possibilities for enhancing the mutually beneficial cooperation continued during the talks between the representatives of the sectoral ministries and departments, enterprises, private companies and firms of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The interlocutors exchanged their views on the prospects for cooperation in such spheres as production and delivery of industrial, energy, training and laboratory equipment, agricultural machinery, construction materials, furniture, in the sphere of food, light and pharmaceutical industries, etc.
