OREANDA-NEWS. April 19, 2012.The respective legislative initiative was put forward by Liberals. The deputies of the Liberal Party say that now audience is being forced to watch advertisings in cinemas although they come there to watch movies and pay for qualitative services which do not include watching advertising videos.

Cabinet ministers have given favorable reply to the draft law proposed by Liberals introducing amendments to the Law of Advertising and the Code of Administrative Offences. The amendments will guarantee protection of the rights of consumers, who will not have anymore to watch long - lasting advertising and will watch the film at the time scheduled. According the draft law, the breach of the ban is sanctioned by fines at an amount of 50 to 300 conventional units, that is 1 thou to 60 thou leis, imposed on economic agents.

Answering questions by Premier Vladimir Filat, Minister of Culture Boris Focsa has noted the ads ban will not result in higher prices for tickets. Unlike TV ads, ads in cinemas cannot be turned off and are foisted on the audience.

As a rule, ads videos are not shown in cinemas abroad. If it happens, people are informed about this in advance by movie-billboards. As the Premier has noted, showing ads before a film is not a great problem since TV channels also show advertising videos before, after and during films under protest of consumers who pay a user charge not for this. Much more important is to create competition in Moldova in film distribution and exhibition and to eliminate monopoly in this area, the Premier has noted.
