OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2012. Khibiny mountain group (the Murmansk Region) became a scene of tragedy — five alpinists from the St. Petersburg club Polytechnik participating in the ascent got buried under snow avalanche. Three of them were injured, and two were killed. All alpinists were insured with OJSC IC Allianz under travellers’ insurance policies with the coverage extended for sports risks. The insurance amount under each policy is 30 thousand US dollars. IC Allianz has recognized this event as insured accident, reported the press-centre of Allianz.

The survivors got negligible injuries and were transported to the Kirov Regional Hospital where they continue to stay at present. They have got all necessary medical aid, their condition is not life-threatening, and there are no indications for medical transportation; therefore, in a few days they will depart by railway to St. Petersburg.

The bodies of the deceased alpinists were delivered to the morgue of the same hospital. Presently, preparations for their repatriation are under way.

All reasonable expenses incurred in connection with this insured accident will be covered by IC Allianz.
