OREANDA-NEWS. April 23, 2012. Sinochem Group signed a collaborative research deal with the University of Leeds to jointly conduct researches in new materials, new energy, new anti-counterfeit technologies, biological breeding and other fields over the next three years, reported the press-centre of Sinochem.   

Under the terms of the deal, collaborative research projects between the two parties would include the development of pest-resistant cotton breeding technology and lithium battery technology, as well as R&D of conductive polymer materials, high-performance organic semiconductors, anti-counterfeit materials and new generation of safe non-toxic hair dyes and synergists, involving a R&D funding.

Dignitaries at the signing ceremony included Prof. Li Bin, Vice President of Sinochem Group, Prof. Michael Arthur, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds, Prof. John Fisher, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University and Mr. Chen Futao, Minister Counselor for Science & Technology of the Chinese Embassy in UK.

Founded in 1831, the University of Leeds is one of the largest universities in Britain, with strong R&D strength in chemistry and chemical industry. Before this deal and on June 14th, 2010, Sinochem Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Leeds on cooperation in science and technology.
