OREANDA-NEWS. April 26, 2012. Chelyabinsk Region Governor Mikhail Valerievich Yurevich and PwC Russia Managing Partner David Gray have signed an Agreement of Intent between the Chelyabinsk Region Government and PwC Russia. This marks the first step in establishing a partner relationship aimed at promoting a favourable economic, social and investment climate in the Chelyabinsk Region in the near term, reported the press-centre of PwC.

According to the Agreement, PwC will advise the Chelyabinsk Region’s executive government agencies on implementing the Social and Economic Development Strategy, as well as assist in enhancing the region’s investment appeal within both the Russian and foreign business communities, and help the region to participate in Russia-wide and international economic development events.

In addition, the firm will play an educational role, including assisting in setting up training opportunities for public servants from the Chelyabinsk Region’s executive government agencies that involve leading Russian and international business schools, and providing internships for Chelyabinsk Region university graduates in the relevant disciplines at PwC Russia offices.

In turn, the Chelyabinsk Region Government will pursue consistent economic, investment and social policies for the region, taking into account PwC’s experience when drafting key documents concerning social and economic development, and promote interaction among regional government agencies, local governments and business enterprises on issues related to enhancing the Chelyabinsk Region’s economic potential and investment attractiveness.

Opening the meeting, Mikhail Yurevich noted that hundreds of successful organisations worldwide use the company’s services:

“We would also like to share this success, and above all with the real sector of the economy. The regional government is counting on the firm’s reputational potential in selecting strategic investors. The company helps train our managers to globally accepted standards. Its representatives are invited to participate the work of the regional consultative council on investment. The prospects here are vast, and very interesting. We are trying to achieve these goals, and generate substantial results,”  Yurevich stressed, adding that PwC’s presence in the Chelyabinsk Region is a significant event that boosts the region’s image.

"Signing a letter of intent is a big and positive step for PwC in building a partnership with Chelyabinsk Region in the future. It's an incredible region, located on the border of Europe and Asia and presenting a variety of interesting opportunities for collaboration. The primary goal of this letter is to enable the creation of a favourable economic, investment and social climate in the region.  We would like to contribute to Chelyabinsk's economic development, to help them attract investments on an international scale and to provide support to local and international companies investing in the region. PwC will make all the necessary efforts to ensure that the partnership brings benefits to the region in the near future", commented David Gray, Managing Partner of PwC in Russia.
