OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2012. Officers of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) had a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, expert organizations and producers of medical products to discuss how substitutability of medical products could be determined, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Participants developed possible approaches to classification of medical products according to their types and approaches to keeping a Register of medical products. Participants also developed a strategy for further elaborating and working out in detail the methods for determining substitutability of medical products.

“The issue of criteria of substitutability of medical products is important on the threshold of coming into force Article 38 of the Federal Law “On Fundamental Principles of Health Care in the Russian Federation”. At the moment around tens of thousands medical products circulate in the market, and it is necessary to devise a mechanism that determines substitutability on a stage-by-stage basis: for the first time ever registered medical products and for the medical products, for which producers file enquiries”, commented Deputy Head of FAS Department for Control over Social Sphere and Trade, Yulia Yermakova.
