OREANDA-NEWS. May 2, 2012. FESCO Transportation Group (MICEX-RTS: FESH) announces its operational results for the first quarter of 2012. Most divisions of the Company demonstrated solid performance in January – March 2012.

In the first quarter of 2012, rail container transportation amounted to 60 893 TEU, that is 15% higher than a year ago. In addition, non-container rail transportation reached 6.5 mln tons (+3% versus 1Q 2011 figure). Non-container cargo turnover decreased by 13% due to transportation distances shortening and amounted to 7.2 bln ton-kilometers.

In January – March 2012, FESCO sea container trade volumes totaled 90 344 TEU, including bilateral shipments of 75 490 TEU and domestic shipments of 14 854 TEU. These figures correspond with 1Q 2011 results, when bilateral and domestic trade volumes amounted to 69 605  TEU and 15 640 TEU.

Intermodal transportation and freight forwarding grew by 9% reaching 45 502 TEU.

In the reporting period, consolidated container throughput of Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port (including VCT) amounted to 98 666 TEU, up 2% year-on-year. At the same time, non-container throughput increased by 25% to 926.9 thsd tones.
