OREANDA-NEWS. May 11, 2012. A delegation of business circles of Pakistan arrived in Uzbekistan for further development of the Uzbek-Pakistani trade-economic and investment cooperation.

The visit was aimed at developing trade-economic cooperation among businesses of two states, establishing direct mutual beneficial contacts, discussing perspectives of bilateral cooperation, and participating at International Healthcare Exhibition (TIHE 2012).

The delegation included representatives of 11 companies, which work in such areas as production of medical equipment, furniture for surgery and hospitals, medical products, as well as cosmetic products.

During the visit, the Pakistani delegation held a meeting with the businesses of Uzbekistan at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, the sides considered issues of mutual cooperation in strengthening relations between business structures of two states.

Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Pakistan made up US.1 million, of which US.2 million fell to share of exports and US.9 million to imports.

Currently, there are 68 enterprises with Pakistan capital in Uzbekistan, including six with 100% Pakistan capital. They operate in such areas as textile products, paper industry, leather industry, food production, transport and tourism services. Seven Pakistani companies have accredited at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade.
