OREANDA-NEWS. May 15, 2012. In the ceremonial event, the joint stock company "Grindeks" has concluded “Profession Days for Pupils”. Within the project the pupils spent one day with the company`s experts and got closer acquainted with the professions related to the chemistry and the pharmaceutical industry. The project lasted from 1 February to 11 May this year and was attended by 40 pupils from 22 towns and county centers of Latvia.

The aim of the Profession Days is to promote youngsters` interest in chemistry and career opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector. To facilitate the choice of field of study after high school graduation, the company within the project offered to meet such professions in reality – chemist, chemist-technician, chemist-analyst, chemical process technician, technician-analyst, biotechnologist, environmental specialist and pharmaceutical equipment operator.

"Grindeks" Head of the Personnel Department Dace Saitere: “The feedback received from the pupils on their visit in “"Grindeks"” allow us to hope that part of the participants of the Profession Days will come back, becoming our co-workers. The previous experience also shows that – quite a lot of employees that used to come to the company as trainees or scholarship holders of “"Grindeks"” Foundation “Support for Science and Education” have successfully started their career even up to director position. We have many such successful stories!”

"Grindeks" Chairman of the Board Juris Bundulis: “Meeting with the participants of the Profession Days, I was pleasantly surprised how smart and motivated these young people are! Chemistry and pharmacy are complex areas therefore it is good that among young people the interest about it does not fall. The process of the organized project allow us to believe that also in the future in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry there will be professionals who with their work and knowledge will be able to compete at Latvian and global level.”

"Grindeks" has organized “Profession Days for Pupils” for the third year already, and this year a total of 82 students had applied. Given the high level of young people interest and evaluating the sent applications, the company increased the number of participants of the project – instead of planned 30 young people during three months 40 students were enrolled. It is planned that also in 2013 “"Grindeks"” “Profession Days for Pupils” will be organized, increasing the total number of participants.
