OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2012. Bakcell, the First Mobile Operator and the Leading Mobile Internet Provider of Azerbaijan, has been one of the sponsors of the annual Business Forum organized by The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) in London, reported the press-centre of Bakcell.

The forum, entitled Azerbaijan and Turkey – Diverse Investment Opportunities, focused on a wide range of business sectors, including, energy; project finance; investment banking; ICT; agriculture; and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and attracted more than 250 delegates from Azerbaijan, Turkey and across the Europe.

“The Telecommunications industry is a global business and the ecosystem surrounding major telecoms providers such as Bakcell involves business from many countries. Events such as the TEAS Bus?ness Forum provide a good platform to meet business partners and suppliers to us. Bakcell has relationships with many overseas suppliers from software, to hardware services. Bakcell is a major domestic company in Azerbaijan that invests significant funds into its networks and services annually.

As it seeks to develop its profile externally, with providers of finance, technology and service vendors and business partners, presence at such prestigious international events is increasingly important for us”, said Mr. Richard Shearer, Bakcell CEO speaking on Bakcell’s involvement in the TEAS Business Forum.

Mr.Shearer has also made a presentation on the position of ICT in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan economy and the segments of the telecoms sector which holds the biggest potential for investment.

Tale Heydarov, Chairman and Founder, TEAS, explained: “This year’s Business Forum is rather different to that in 2011, as it focuses on both Azerbaijan and Turkey. We believe that many of the economic projects in the region automatically combine these two countries. This is not solely because Azerbaijan and Turkey have cultural ties and are brother countries, but because of the geographical situation.

Azerbaijan has one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, mainly due to its oil and gas resources, most of which will now pass through Turkey to the EU markets.
In 2012, Bakcell actively supports several international events. Recently, Bakcell has supported the 15th Eurasian Economic Summit held in Istanbul and Izmir, Turkey with participation of representatives from government, private and non-governmental sectors across the Eurasia region.
