OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2012. Prime Minister Mykola Azarov considers necessary to intensify the development of molecular researches in Ukraine. He said this during a meeting with Nobel Prize laureate in Physiology and Medicine in 1991, Neyer Erwin, who is the head of the International Expert Council of Research and Training Center "State key laboratory of Molecular and Cell Biology."

Mykola Azarov told Erwin Neyer that for the last 2 years in Ukraine have been set up 5 linear accelerators as well as built two nuclear research centers.

"In fact, we have established several centers in Ukraine, which are not inferior to the European," he said.

Besides, Prime Minister informed the Ukrainian physicians are constantly trained in European centers.

In turn, the Nobel laureate said he was in Ukraine a few times - the first time as early as 1975. He said that several years ago he saw a lack of funding of molecular biology in Ukraine.

"When I was three years ago in Ukraine, I saw that science suffers from a lack of money and equipment. Currently I see the changes and particular efforts to develop research in biomedicine, physiology and oncology in Ukraine," added the scientist.

He noted it is important to develop biomedical researchers at a high level because it is directly related to citizens’ health.

In addition, Erwin Neyer noted the financing researches have been provided in Ukraine, but there are some issues relating to temporary frameworks of the financing.

In turn, Mykola Azarov promised the issue of of financing would be resolved.
