OREANDA-NEWS. May 16, 2012. The IV International Forum ATOMEXPO 2012 (June 4-6, 2012 in Gostiny Dvor, Moscow, 4 Ilynka st.) will include a special event of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) on the “Nuclear Power Industry After Fukushima: Operator's Perspective” (Moderator: Vladimir Asmolov, President of WANO, First Deputy Director General of Rosenergoatom; June 4, 10:00 – 18:00).

The Forum’s central theme is the “Nuclear power industry worldwide: one year after Fukushima.” The Forum’s opening ceremony is set for 13:30 on June 4.

Traditionally, ATOMEXPO 2012 will include an International Congress and Specialized Exhibition of enterprises of the nuclear and allied industries. The exhibition area has doubled as compared to the last year. The exhibitors are Russian and international nuclear companies; vendors of equipment, component parts and services for the nuclear industry; construction companies; IT and consulting firms; and nuclear-specialized mass media. The exhibition will display companies and organizations, such as ROSATOM, JSC TVEL, Rosenergoatom, Group E4, WNA, Siemens, CEA, EDF Energy, Bentley Systems and others.

The Congress first day will include a number of round-table sessions:

- round-table session “Renewable Energy Sources” (Moderator: Natan Shklyar, Partner, Bain&Company; 10:00 – 13:30);

- round-table session “Integrated approach to nuclear industry development: benefits and implications” (Moderator: Djurica Tankosic, Senior Vice President, Worley Parsons; 10:00 – 13:30);

- round-table session “International Cooperation in Nuclear Education” (Moderator: Vladimir Artisyuk, Vice-Rector, Central Institute for Continuing Education and Training (CICE&T); 10:30 – 18:00);

- round-table session “Topical Issues of Implementation of the Federal Law on radioactive waste management” (Moderator: Tatiana Elfimova, Deputy Director General, ROSATOM; 14:00 – 18:00);

- round-table session “ Radiation Technologies” (Moderators: Denis Kovalevich, Head of the Project office, Projects of the Commission for Modernization and Technology Development of Russia, ROSATOM; Mikhail Batkov, Program Director, Project Office Radiation Technologies, ROSATOM; 14:30 – 18:00).

On June 5 the key event of the Forum business program will take place, i.e. the Plenary, which, as last year, will be in the format of a panel discussion of the world nuclear power leaders. The invited panelists are Takuya Hattori, President of the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum, Bernard Bigot, High Commissioner of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, Antonio Mueller, President of Brazilian Association for the Development of Nuclear Activities Antonio Muller, and other heads of leading companies and organizations of the world nuclear market.

June 5 program also includes the sessions:

- round-table session “Construction of NPP with the quality required by design – fundamental prerequisite of safety of nuclear power industry” (10:00 – 11:45);

- round-table session “European Union Perspective of Construction of New NPP Units. Prospects of Future Use of the Territories, Reconstruction, Modular Solutions.  “Breakthrough” into European Technological Platform” (12:00 – 13:30);

- symposium “Topical Issues of International Nuclear Law” (Moderator: Mikhail Lysenko, Director of International Cooperation Department of ROSATOM; 10:00 – 18:00);

- round-table session “Strategies of Nuclear Industry Development: Throughout the Entire Process Chain” (Moderator: Andrey Timofeev, Partner and Managing Director of the Boston Consulting Group; 14:30 – 18:00);

- round-table session “International Cooperation in the Area of Nuclear  Back End Technologies and the Nuclear Legacy Issues” (Moderators: Oleg Kryukov, Director of Directorate for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of ROSATOM; Leonid Bolshov, Director, Nuclear Safety Institute of the Russian Academy of Science (IBRAE RAS); 14:30 – 18:00);

- round-table session “ Northern Sea Route: New  Opportunities” (Moderator: Vyacheslav Ruksha, General Director of Atomflot; 14:30 – 18:00)

On June 6 the Forum will frame the youth session “Youth in Science. International Aspects” (14:30 – 18:00). It will be moderated by Alexander Fertman, Scientific Director of the Nuclear Technology Cluster at Skolkovo Foundation. The participants will discuss aspects of globalization of science, competition and cooperation in the world market of research and development, as well as status and prospects of researchers and developers. The session is to be attended by representatives of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Open University of the Skolkovo Foundation, NRNU MEPHI, Embassy of France, large nuclear industry companies, students and post graduates of Russian and international universities and research institutes, young employees of nuclear industry enterprises and representatives of international scientific youth organizations.

June 6 is also planned for the following round-table sessions:

- round-table session “Investment Potential of the Nuclear Power Industry: Integrated Approach to Attracting Funding” (Moderator: Ilya Rebrov, Director for Economics and Finance of ROSATOM; 10:00 – 13:30);

- round-table session “ Role of ROSATOM in Technological Development of Russia” (Moderator: Vyacheslav Pershukov, Deputy Director General, Director of the Innovation Management Unit of ROSATOM; 10:00 – 13:30);

- round-table session “ International Cooperation in the Nuclear Fuel Cycle” (Moderator: Vasily Konstantinov, Vice-President of JSC TVEL; 10:00 – 13:30);

- round-table session “Nuclear Energy and Public Acceptance: Development of Communication Practices After the Fukushima Accident” (Moderator: Sergey Novikov, Director of the Communications Department of ROSATOM; 14:30 – 18:00).

The annual Forum ATOMEXPO is organized by ROSATOM. It is traditionally attended by leading international organizations and companies of the nuclear industry. This is the only event of such scale being held in Russia and overseas which fully devoted to nuclear power. In 2011 the Forum was attended by delegates of more than 175 companies from 51 world countries.
